Million-Plus Spectator Event Helps Demonstrates Giti Dedication to Fitness, Endurance and Determination
A proud symbol of the invincible urge for freedom that eventually reunited Germany, Berlin is a city steeped in history. It is also a city where legends are born. From September 26-29th, almost 30 years after the Berlin Wall fell, the German capital hosted the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON. Featuring great sports and top endurance runners from all over the world, the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON is part of the ”Abbott World Marathon Majors” which include similar events in Tokyo, Boston, London, Chicago and New York City.
Kenenisa Bekele misses world record by two seconds in sensational comeback win
Bekele, the three-time Olympic long distance champion and world record holder at 5,000 and 10,000 meters, produced a sensational comeback win in the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON, missing the world record by just two seconds with 2:01:41. The 37 year old Ethiopan became the second fastest runner of all time, narrowly missing the record set by Eliud Kipchoge in the 2018 event.
A record number of 46,983 runners from 150 countries entered the 46th BMW BERLIN-MARATHON. Over a million spectators and over 62,000 total participants took part in Germany’s biggest marathon. The clear presence of Giti Tire at this event was heralded by banners on the track and at nearby venues, including the MARATHON EXPO, the Hot Spot at kilometer 35 on the Kurfürstendamm, and at the Start-Finish area.
